Winifred Marjorie Wagner (née Williams; 23 June 1897 – 5 March 1980) was the English-born wife of Siegfried Wagner, the son of Richard Wagner, and ran the Bayreuth Festival after her husband's death in 1930 until the end of World War II in 1945. The first of three letter in the Bruce Hungerford collection from Winifred all prompted by his letters to her wishing her a happy birthday. This one starts out as "Dear Mr. Hungerford." Subsequent letters indicate they became pen pals as she used his name in the salutation. She touches upon his experiences in Egypt and her travels to Libya to see Roman excavations. She also mentions her daughter and some female friends and tells Bruce they miss him and she closes out the letter wishing him artistic success.
